JOB SUMMARY

Highmark Health is searching for an accomplished Senior Technical Architect to take the lead in shaping the system design and solution architecture for various enterprise AI initiatives within our AI Platforms and Services (AIPS) team. This team is pivotal in driving AI innovation throughout the organization, acting as an internal service provider to deliver cutting-edge AI solutions and infrastructure. In this influential role, you will transform business requirements into robust technical solutions that support strategic objectives and ensure long-term success.

As the Senior Technical Architect, you will craft the technical vision for our enterprise-grade platforms. Your responsibilities will include leading the development of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems, and implementing effective enterprise integrations through APIs, messaging systems, and data pipelines in complex environments. By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—such as Business Stakeholders, Data Science, Engineering, and Product—you will establish the strategic technical direction and propel the development and integration of AI-driven solutions. Your expertise will be critical in assessing and recommending technologies, leading proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives, and presenting architectural designs to the Architecture Review Board.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in software engineering and solution architecture, along with extensive experience in Python and enterprise integrations. A passion for exploring advancements in AI, cloud, and enterprise technologies will be essential. While deep AI expertise is advantageous, familiarity with AI solutioning will suffice. It's crucial that all solutions meet regulatory standards, including HIPAA and other Healthcare IT criteria.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic consultancy to business clients in defining or designing business processes and functions, as well as researching and identifying enabling technologies aligned with customer capabilities. Facilitate the development of complex enterprise business solutions that merge business process knowledge with technological options. Design and specify large and complex systems, solutions, networks, infrastructure elements, or processes. Ensure the selection of applicable design standards and methods and perform reviews to guarantee the effective application of technology and resource efficiency. Utilize suitable tools and models to contribute to the development of complex architectures. Create detailed component requirements and translate these into actionable designs for implementation using selected products. Establish and communicate functional and non-functional requirements of system users. Identify environments for product or system operation and lead significant improvement initiatives, ensuring the delivery of measurable business benefits. Resolve architecture and business challenges and act as the technical or business lead for complex project initiatives. Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and manage expectations of customers, partners, and management. Engage in customer walkthroughs, design discussions, and problem resolution activities. Interact with various departments to develop and clarify complex requirements for peers and staff. Maintain comprehensive knowledge in your area of expertise and provide expert guidance for application. Lead and mentor peers, developers, and management in technical and architectural matters, offering coaching and training as needed. Prepare and present on complex topics related to your expertise. Participate in ensuring alignment with Highmark's strategic direction. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. EDUCATION

7 years in an IT discipline 7 years in a Business discipline Preferred

8+ years in software development, solution architecture, or enterprise systems design. 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a preference for Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Strong Python skills with a history of building scalable, production-grade systems. Demonstrated experience in leading system design and solution architecture for secure enterprise-grade platforms. Expertise in creating robust enterprise integrations through APIs and messaging systems. Experience in developing or integrating AI-driven solutions supporting strategic initiatives. Capability to partner with cross-functional teams to define and implement strategic technical directions. Experience leading POC efforts to validate new technical solutions. Proficiency in maintaining architecture documentation with comprehensive specifications and guidelines. Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences, including formal entities like an Architecture Review Board. Familiarity with healthcare regulatory standards such as HIPAA. Experience mentoring and providing technical leadership to project teams. Knowledge of DevOps, MLOps, Containerization, and IaC for streamlining AI deployment lifecycles. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

An Architect is not required to have experience in all of these areas, but must possess the necessary skills to support the applications they manage. Current skill sets are reviewed biennially, and new skills may be introduced as business needs evolve.

Pay Range Minimum: $118,400.00

Pay Range Maximum: $196,800.00

Base pay is determined based on various factors including qualifications and experience, and may vary by location.
