Position Summary

The Solution Architect will support the design, implementation, modernization, security, scalability, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise technology solutions for the M&O Services for DSS Application Systems project. This position provides technical leadership and architectural guidance across infrastructure, identity management, application development, cloud, security, and DevOps environments.

Depending on project assignment, the Solution Architect may focus on enterprise identity and infrastructure architecture or application and software solution architecture. The position will collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, security professionals, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable technology solutions.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Design and implement enterprise technology solutions that align with business, technical, security, and operational requirements. Develop solution architectures, technical designs, standards, and implementation strategies for assigned systems and applications. Evaluate existing technology environments and recommend architectural improvements, modernization opportunities, and scalable solutions. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development, infrastructure, security, and support teams. Translate business and technical requirements into effective solution architectures. Ensure proposed solutions meet established requirements for security, performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and availability. Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, project planning, and implementation activities. Identify architectural risks, dependencies, technical constraints, and potential solutions. Support system performance optimization, high-availability planning, capacity planning, and technology upgrades. Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, technical specifications, standards, procedures, and other technical documentation. Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex application, infrastructure, identity, integration, and performance issues. Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to plan and coordinate technology initiatives. Provide technical knowledge transfer, guidance, and training to IT staff as appropriate. Support continuous improvement and adoption of modern architecture, development, cloud, security, and DevOps practices.

Candidates must have demonstrated professional experience within the technical area applicable to their assigned Solution Architect position.

Identity, Infrastructure & Security Architecture

Applicable Experience May Include:

Active Directory (AD) infrastructure administration, management, and security auditing. Microsoft Entra ID administration, formerly Azure Active Directory. Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and solutions. Hybrid identity architecture and administration. Cybersecurity principles and implementation of advanced security controls. Security and compliance reviews. Performance tuning and system optimization. High-availability architecture and solutions. System upgrade planning and implementation. Design and implementation of scalable enterprise IT solutions. Technical documentation development. IT staff training and knowledge transfer. Technical project management and coordination.

Application & Software Solution Architecture

Applicable Experience May Include:

Minimum Experience

Minimum experience requirements vary by position:

Position 79 – Solution Architect 1: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, with an emphasis on identity, infrastructure, security, performance, and enterprise architecture. Position 80 – Solution Architect 2: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, with an emphasis on .NET, Angular, AWS, and application solution architecture. Position 81 – Solution Architect 3: Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, with an emphasis on .NET, Angular, AWS, and application solution architecture.

Preferred Competencies

Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and solution design principles. Ability to design secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable technology solutions. Strong understanding of application, infrastructure, cloud, security, and/or identity architecture. Experience developing architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
