Systems Engineer (Network Engineering & Architecture Focus)

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in network engineering and network architecture to support a complex, multi-enclave, mission-critical environment. This role blends traditional systems engineering practices with deep domain expertise in IT systems, ground systems, cloud environments, and modern network deployment technologies. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing, deploying, and integrating networks at enterprise or tactical scale, and can support system requirements, modeling, and documentation efforts.

This position requires someone who can operate across technical domains, coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams, and contribute to the development of scalable, secure networked systems.

Responsibilities
Architect, design, and deploy network solutions across multi-enclave environmentsLead or support network integration efforts including SD-WAN deployment, hardware selection, and ground system connectivityDevelop and refine technical requirements, interface definitions, and system documentationPerform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, Cameo systems modeling, and DOORS requirements managementSupport system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and cross-IPT coordinationAnalyze network performance, identify constraints, and recommend improvements or new architecture approachesContribute to security planning and risk management strategies for networked systemsProvide light leadership for small technical teams, help establish SLAs, and coordinate technical activities across engineering groupsSupport deployment planning, configuration management, and integration of IT and cloud-based systemsPrepare and deliver technical briefings, system artifacts, and engineering products

Required Experience
18+ years of experienceStrong background in network engineering or network architectureExperience with enterprise or DoD network deployment, multi-enclave environments, or mission partner networkingHands-on experience with SD-WAN, routing, switching, network hardware selection, and ground system integrationIT systems experience including cloud environments, virtualization, and distributed systemsFamiliarity with systems engineering fundamentals: requirements, interfaces, MBSE tools, system documentationExperience with network-centric government or enterprise environments (e.g., DISA networks, DISN, JWICS, AFNET POPs, or similar)Understanding of air-based or ground-based systems networking (e.g., AFSN)Ability to coordinate across engineering IPTs and provide leadership for small teams

Required Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field.Master's or PhD in a technical field and 10+ years of experience

Preferred Certifications
Security+ or Network+CCNA or CCNPAWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions ArchitectSystems engineering credentials (CSAP, DWIA, or similar)Additional network architecture or cloud certifications

Required Travel
Up to 25% travel to government and industry sites as needed.

The pay range for this position in is $140,000/year to $220,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
