Serve as the primary technical interface between Blue Origin and shipyard engineering during new vessel constructionProvide engineering oversight of construction activities, ensuring compliance with ABS rules, USCG regulations (CFRs), and contractual specificationsReview and approve shipyard-produced drawings, calculations, and test proceduresCoordinate with ABS surveyors and USCG OCMIs throughout construction milestones and inspectionsDevelop and manage technical specifications, requirements documents, and modification packagesLead technical trade studies and risk management activities for vessel design and construction decisionsOversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of marine electrical systems, automation, and major equipmentCoordinate with the Senior Marine Electrical Engineer on electrical system design, integration, and commissioningProvide technical direction, task assignment, and engineering mentorship to the team of four Project Construction ManagersReview construction progress reports from Project Construction Managers and provide technical input for status reporting to senior managementCoordinate with the Recovery Offshore Operations Engineer to ensure vessel design supports recovery equipment integration and operational requirementsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to the Recovery Offshore Operations Engineer on vessel systems and classification requirementsRead and assess blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure construction aligns with OEM best practices and maximizes system performance and lifetimeSupport verification planning, testing, and commissioning activities through deliveryPerform stability analyses, structural assessments, and other naval architecture calculations as required to support design decisions and classification submissions degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalentMinimum of 4 years of relevant experience in new vessel construction, naval architecture, or as a port engineer with new construction oversightExperience with standard shipyard construction practices and sequencesExperience working with United States Coast Guard and local OCMIsExperience working with American Bureau of Shipping surveyorsExperience performing work in compliance with CFRs, United States Coast Guard Standards, American Bureau of Shipping Guidelines, and other applicable standards for marine applicationsExperience developing drawings and specifications to define requirements for vessel construction, repairs, and modificationsExperience with FAT testing of marine electrical systems and automationExperience managing build schedules and providing status reports to managementExperience supporting schedule mitigation efforts during project executionStrong technical leadership skills with the ability to direct and mentor less experienced team membersExperience in subcontract management of suppliers including requests for proposal, specifications, and statements of workStrong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operationsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a positive working culture At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building an authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every desired qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
