Visiting Assistant Professor of History of Architecture, Department of Art (R0008458)

The Department of Art at Wake Forest University invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of History of Modern and Contemporary Architecture, to begin July 1, 2026.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester, with a M/W/F schedule. Fall 2026 courses will be Art 105: A Global History of Architecture (40 students) and Art 288: Modern/Contemporary Architecture (28 students). In addition, each semester, the successful candidate will teach Art 101: Engaging with Art (15 students), a course that encourages students to engage with the visual arts on campus and in the local community. Spring courses can include upper-level lecture classes in the candidate’s area(s) of specialization. This position is a one-year appointment, open to those working on any geographic region. The position requires experience teaching an architectural history course as the primary instructor at the university level and a Ph.D. in Art/Architectural History. Candidates who will graduate in May 2026 will be considered.
